Dear Rochester Community Schools Parent/Guardian: We are writing to let you know that the results of your child’s performance on the M-STEP, Michigan’s statewide exam, will be sent home with your child today. The M-STEP has been Michigan’s state assessment for the past six years, and the MDE has continued to refine the test. Test results help teachers and schools make adjustments to instruction and programs to support student learning. The 2023 M-STEP once again incorporated computer adaptive testing (CAT), which provides a more personalized test experience for students and improved test security, as well as more precise measures of learning for schools. Overall results show that Rochester Community Schools students continue to outperform their counterparts across the State of Michigan and much of Oakland County on the challenging M-STEP. District and school leaders will be studying these results to discover where we are having success, and where we see areas in which to improve. The test results also will reveal which groups of students are doing well, and which will need more or different kinds of support. As we learn more about our District’s results, we can make decisions that will help improve instruction. There are many additional resources available through the Michigan Department of Education M-STEP website at www.michigan.gov/mde. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact your building principal, Mrs. Allison Roberts [email protected]
