Welcome back students to the 2023-24 school year! Classes start on Monday, August 28, 2023. To access the entire 2023-24 school calendar, please visit the RCS website. We hope you had a wonderful summer!!
Hello Hart Families! We are looking forward to welcoming our Hart Eagles back to school Monday, August 28th, which is a half-day, starting at 7:25 a.m. and dismissing at 10:40 a.m. Below you will find information to help you and your child navigate the start of the school year.
Some class schedules may have changed. Please check ParentVUE or StudentVUE for the most up-to-date class schedule prior to the first day.
We will have an abundance of staff in the corridors to welcome students, help them with lockers, and guide them around the building.
During Hart Start (homeroom) on the first day of school, teachers will go over the lunch schedule with students.
If you drive your child to/from school, please refer to our Drop-off/Pick-up Loop Information by clicking here: NEW Loop Drop-Off Procedures.pdf
Make-up Picture Day, for students who have not yet had their picture taken, will take place Thursday, September 7th during the school day. (Picture Re-Takes will be taken the morning of October 3rd.)
Throughout the school year, you can help your child arrive prepared for school by encouraging them to load their backpack the evening before, and consider all they will need for the next day's success (water bottle, lunch, athletic attire if they are participating in a sport, homework, charged Chromebook, school supplies, books, etc.).
If you have something to drop off for your child, please enter the building through the Main Office entrance. There is a cart to the left of the door to the Main Office. Please write your child's name on each item you are leaving, place it on the cart, and ring the doorbell to the right of the door to let us know you are dropping something off. We will be out to collect the item(s) shortly. In order to minimize interruption to classroom instruction, students will be notified during passing time that an item is in the office for them.
Tuesday, August 29th is a full-day of school, beginning at 7:25 a.m. and dismissing at 2:22 p.m.
Reminders: Annual Verification RCS Annual Verification is now open in ParentVUE. An email containing instructions and links has been sent out. As part of the annual verification process, you will have the opportunity to update your child's Emergency Contacts, health information, waivers, parent telephone numbers and email addresses. For more information and instructions please visit the RCS ParentVUE help page. PTSA PTSA membership supports our students and teachers in many ways throughout the school year. Attending PTSA meetings is a wonderful way to become involved, get to know other parents, and work with our leadership to support our school. Please click here Hart PTSA Parent Flyer 2023.pdf for information about our PTSA and how to join. *Note: If your child will NOT be attending Hart for the 2023-2024 school year please contact Ann Maloney in the Hart Counseling Office (248-726-4521, or [email protected]), to let us know as soon as possible. Thank you! We are looking forward to a great school year! Allison Roberts, Principal Michael Bennion, Assistant Principal Herb Goliday, Assistant Principal
Our primary concern during morning drop off and afternoon pick up at Hart is student safety. To ensure student safety, and alleviate traffic congestion on Sheldon Road, please take a few minutes to review our Loop Drop-Off/Pick-Up procedures diagram, which can be accessed by clicking here: NEW Loop Drop-Off Procedures.pdf . This will help traffic move through the loops as efficiently as possible. Important things to note:
North Loop: All students will enter the building through Door #28 (the eastern-most entrance). Please pull as far forward as possible. Students should exit the car as soon as you are in the "drop off area" along the sidewalk, and walk to the east set of doors (#28) which will be unlocked.
South Loop: All students will enter the building through Door #9 (the middle set of doors). Please pull as far forward as possible. Students should exit the car as soon as you are in the "drop off area" along the sidewalk, and walk to Door #9, which will be unlocked.
Please do not drop off from the outside lane.
Please do not drop off or pick up in parking lots and allow your child to cut through the line of cars moving through the loop.
Please do not drive through, or park in, the bus loop on the east side of the building during morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up.
Please remember, we are all part of the same community. Patience and courtesy should always be extended to those around us.
Thank you for your partnership, courtesy and patience.
Help Hart win $1,000 by having the most participants at the Hometown Hustle! There will be an elementary, middle and high school winner.
*RCS Chromebooks are specifically designed for educational purposes and are built with durability as a priority. However, it's important to note that the damages described below exceed the coverage provided by Dell's warranty guidelines and are beyond the effects of typical usage. Cracked screen, motherboard failure $130 Lost, damaged, non-Dell charger replacement $40 Other damage (keyboard, bent hinges, cracked case) $25 Lost device $300
You can make payment for the Chromebook replacement fee via cash, check (made out to RCS), or credit card. Please be aware that pricing is subject to change based on market availability. It's important to note that non Dell-branded products and accessories, including chargers, are not accepted and will void the warranty. Fees will apply if such items require replacement.
Current RCS Students Now is an ideal time to ensure your child's Chromebook is prepared for the upcoming school year. Follow the steps below to check its functionality:
Perform a visual inspection of the device, looking for any signs of damage such as a cracked screen or case, bent hinges or ports, objects stuck in ports, or missing/stuck keyboard keys.
Please be aware that the damages mentioned will negatively affect the performance of the device and may hinder its successful use for daily activities and testing. Also note that these damages go beyond the coverage provided by Dell's warranty guidelines and are not typical effects of regular usage. As a result, fees may apply for repairs or replacements. More information regarding fees is provided below.
Locate the original Dell charger provided and connect it to the Chromebook to give it a thorough charge.
Turn on the Chromebook and verify that your student's name appears in the upper right corner of the screen. This information can be seen without logging in.
Visit a website with audio to confirm that the speakers are working. Additionally, plug in earbuds or a headset to ensure the audio port is functional.
Type into a Google doc to check the keyboard's functionality.
Delete old files to create additional space for this year's coursework.
By following these steps, you can ensure your child's Chromebook is in optimal condition for the school year ahead. If your Chromebook requires repair, please bring it along with the original Dell charger to the deployment, where you can exchange it for a functioning device (*fees may be applicable).
