Hello Parents! As a National School of Character, we are thrilled to continue on our journey with the Positivity Project (P2) againthis year! Lessons from the Positivity Project will be delivered weekly to your children during Hart Start (i.e. homeroom). The mission of the Positivity Project is to empower America’s youth to build positive relationships by understanding, appreciating, and exemplifying the character strengths in us all. People who have strong positive relationships do five things consistently - these are the five practices of the Other People Mindset: 1. Recognize the good in other people 2. Recognize that everything you say or do affects other people, 3. Support others when they struggle, 4. Cheer people on when they succeed, 5. Remain present when giving people your attention. People who have a strong Other People Mindset are able to build and maintain strong, positive relationships with others. While mental health is incredibly complex, we do know that positive relationships can help people become happier, healthier, and more resilient. And, the Positivity Project believes that educators have a huge opportunity and vital role to play in this endeavor. Our nation’s youth spends a large percentage of their time in school. By deliberately and consistently teaching students that relationships are important -- and that positive relationships are cultivated through character and the Other People Mindset -- educators can roll back these trends and create strong citizens and leaders for our communities and countries. This coming week (September 11), our school community will be focusing on the Other People Mindset. This means anything that builds relationships is going to make you happy. To practice and encourage the character strengths with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you can watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions. Each week, we’ll provide a reminder as to which lesson we’ll be focusing on. We are very excited to continue our efforts to further develop the character of Hart Middle School students. We truly appreciate your partnership in this journey! Sincerely, The School Culture Committee of Hart Middle School
Our primary concern during morning drop off and afternoon pick up at Hart is student safety. To ensure student safety, and alleviate traffic congestion on Sheldon Road, please take a few minutes to review our Loop Drop-Off/Pick-Up procedures diagram, which can be accessed by clicking here: NEW Loop Drop-Off Procedures.pdf . This will help traffic move through the loops as efficiently as possible. Important things to note:
North Loop: All students will enter the building through Door #28 (the eastern-most entrance). Please pull as far forward as possible. Students should exit the car as soon as you are in the "drop off area" along the sidewalk, and walk to the east set of doors (#28) which will be unlocked.
South Loop: All students will enter the building through Door #9 (the middle set of doors). Please pull as far forward as possible. Students should exit the car as soon as you are in the "drop off area" along the sidewalk, and walk to Door #9, which will be unlocked.
Please do not drop off from the outside lane.
Please do not drop off or pick up in parking lots and allow your child to cut through the line of cars moving through the loop.
Please do not drive through, or park in, the bus loop on the east side of the building during morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up.
Please remember, we are all part of the same community. Patience and courtesy should always be extended to those around us.
Thank you for your partnership, courtesy and patience.
