8th Grade ALA Students 2024-2025
Dear 8th Grade ALA Students, For the Advanced LA8 class, students will read one of the following books over the summer. The book must be read before the first day of school. Students should be prepared to engage with this book throughout the first few weeks of school in a combination of visual, oral, and written tasks. Please review each title with your parent/guardian as you select the title you want to read.
Legend by Marie Lu
Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Obsessed by Allison Britz
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
If you find it useful, take notes regarding plot, characterization, significant quotations, theme development, literary devices, etc. while reading. Notes taken will not be collected or graded, though taking the time to interact with the text and reflect upon the reading may prove helpful when the discussion begins in class. However, the most crucial goal is to thoughtfully read your book selection and feel prepared to share your ideas about it. Please reach out via email if you have any questions! Sincerely, Mrs. Cavins ([email protected])
